  • Preparing for your licence test

Before you apply for your driver licence test, you’ll need to make sure that you have had 120 hours driving experience with a supervising driver, have learned about the Hazard Perception Test and studie.

All learner drivers 18 year old age  are required to complete 120 hours of supervised driving. Including 10 hours at night and record these hours in their learner log book.

 Drivers under the age of 21 who got their learner permit on or after 1 July 2007. Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of supervised driving experience (including at least 10 hours at night). Before they can take the drive test.
These hours must be recorded in an official learner log book .That is signed by the learner driver and their supervising (experienced) driver. This log book is issued to the learner driver free of charge when they pass the learner permit test.

Who do not accumulate 120 hours (including at least 10 hours at night).And have not been exempted from this requirement, will not be allowed to take the drive test and will forfeit their appointment and test fees. Learner drivers will not beallowed to complete the learner log book. At the VicRoads Customer Service Centre on the day of their drive test appointment
There is no requirement for learner drivers 21 years of age . Or older or learner drivers who got their learner permit prior to 1 July 2007 to complete a minimum of 120 hours of supervised driving experience before they can take the drive test..

A learner log book will only be accepted by VicRoads if:
It is an official learner log book issued by VicRoads (photocopies are not acceptable).
The learner driver and supervising driver have both completed and signed the Declaration of Completion.otal number of driving hours recorded is at least 120 hours.

  • Night driving hours

the total number of night driving hours is at least 10 hours
all supervising drivers have provided sufficient information about their identity, which includes their licence number (instructor’s number for driving instructors) and signature
all supervising drivers held a full non-probationary car licence at the time of the practice drives
all details for each trip are complete and a supervising driver has signed each trip entry.
